Parkrun League *PARKRUN LEAGUE VENUE CHANGE!!* Hi Lakers, unfortunately Temple Newsam parkrun will be cancelled on 14th November, so the parkrun league fixture will now take place at Horton Park! 2026 Rules > South Leeds Lakers must be your club on Parkrun results (sign in & go to groups) > Wear a South Leeds Lakers top if you have one (get kit here ) > Points are based on WAVA age related % > Volunteer, at Parkrun, six times throughout the year (junior Parkrun included) > Juniors can join the league if they are running the Saturday 5km > Bonus points for course PB & first in age category > Joker can be played once a year for double points > Joker must be declared to Jenna in advance > Final score is based on top ten results over the year * Don't worry if you can't make them all, come along & join in with some Parkrun tourism when you can* Here are the final standings for the 2025 Parkrun league!! Track Session Friday night is our track night! For 40 weeks of the year we have access to the track at South Leeds Stadium (John Charles Centre for Sport), LS11 5DJ. The track is available between 6-7pm, is FREE & is open to all. Club Night Tuesday night is our traditional club night & we usually have between 3-6 groups. All groups are taken by qualified run leaders. All running levels are catered for & no Laker is ever left behind. We meet at 6:50pm for a 7pm start. Runs are, usually, made available to view & book by Monday. South Leeds Lakers annual winter 10k race , Bah Humbug, entries now open South Leeds Bah Humbug 10K Sunday 6th December 2026 Enter the race Sponsorship - coming soon Volunteer - coming soon Come and join us, for a fun, friendly & very festive run, in and around the beauty of Middleton Park The race starts on the track at the South Leeds Stadium, then meanders on a single lap of the park, before a stadium finish & of course one of our legendary Mince Pies! Here are some key points for race day: - Registration opens at 9am. Race Starts at 10.30am. Free Children's Fun Run starts 10.35am (2 laps of the track, register on the day) - Fully Marshalled & sign posted course. - Plenty of parking but look out for 3 hour limit signs on the ones nearest the stadium. - It could be muddy !!! Trail shoes are recommended. Showers are available at the stadium. No muddy shoes in the bars please. - Drinks station on course. - We aim to make this the most sustainable race to date, so please bring your own cups/bottles to help do our bit for the environment. - Bespoke Finishers Medal & Goody bag for all, with technical t shirt add on available until mid November - Presentations will be in the Bar at 12.15; there will be prizes for: ~ First 3 women and first 3 open ~ Veteran categories ~ Course records (£50 cash prize each open & female). ~ Best fancy dress - Profits from the event will be invested back into providing health and sporting opportunities to young people in South Leeds, specifically removing barriers to participation by offering free access. We raised over £175 which the committee have approved to be doubled using club funds. So £350 raised. As in previous years this event was held to raise money for Wheatfields Hospice in memory of John, Kath & Lynn. They were part of the Laker's family & are sadly no longer with us, but will be forever in out thoughts. Bah Humbug 2025 Sunday 7th December 2025 saw another successful Bah Humbug 10K, hosted by South Leeds Lakers Running Club. 300+ participants of all abilities tackled the challenging trails around Middleton Woods, many in fancy dress. The event was a fantastic showcase of Yorkshire spirit & determination. Runners enjoyed delicious mince pies & humbug sweets upon crossing the finish line, & the Phoenix Bar provided a welcoming space for drinks & hot food. Bart (Humbug) would like to say thank you to everyone who made this event memorable. 2025 Winners! It was a super tough event today so well done to all of you! It takes an army of people to put on an event like this, from the core team of volunteers working in the background for the last few months to our amazing army of the best hi viz hero's (christened BARTshalls today !) we’ve ever seen that cheered every runner home in the rain, the stadium team who adapted to any issue that was thrown at them, the cooks, the guys who provided our finishers treats, our juniors handing out the medals, our partners & suppliers, Kingy the Lion & of course our official starter Keith Senior, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We hope you all enjoyed today’s event, you’ve raised an awful lot of money for local good causes. Bah Humbug 10K 10th December 2023 "Not really sure where to start, but I’ll try! From the course set up team out at 6am, to the registration team that ensured all aspects of the event went so smoothly, to the core team that have spent 8 months planning, to our amazing course Marshalls for which the feedback from the runners was you are simply the most enthusiastic they have ever seen , to the catering team, water station and finishers team, to the juniors that stood in the rain & handed out medals, our amazing PA & of course Harry The Hawk ! The stress & the anxiety of watching weather apps for the last 3 days, now feels like a distant memory & although there were a few slight changes we needed to make on the day, things seemed to pass relatively smoothly. As I said post race, it takes an army of people to put on such an event & the feedback we’ve had regarding our amazing course marshalls who were stood there in some really challenging conditions, has been second to none. A massive thank you to the core team, most of who were out on course at 6:30am for setup & still packing things away at 3pm this afternoon. You guys are amazing. Also everyone else who has made this event what it is today, from registration, food, lead bike, water stations, social media, kids race, merchandise, goody bags, Kingy the Lion, our MC, warm up etc etc. A huge thank you to all our sponsors, partners & suppliers - the feedback we’ve had regarding this years medals, trophies T-Shirts has been ace. But finally a massive thank you to all our entrants. You came to see us, when on a day like today it would’ve been easier to stay in bed & in doing so have raised a massive amount of money for local good causes.
